TAMIL NADU TO REMAIN UNDER TOTAL LOCKDOWN TILL 3RD MAY; NO RELAXATION ON CURFEW RESTRICTIONS
Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduAfter Karnataka, the Tamil Nadu government announced that there will be no relaxation of Lockdown in the state. The total lockdown and curfew restrictions will be in place till May 3rd, the Chief Minister, Edapaddi K Palaniswami said on Monday. The decision was taken due to the rise in number of COVID- 19 cases in the state.
According to report from The Hindu Business Line, the state consulted the expert committee headed by Finance Secretary S Krishnan before taking the decision. The 21- member committee devised strategies for undertaking phased removal of restrictions in order to avoid the spread of the virus.
The Chief Minister emphasized on the need to intensify testing in order to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus. He also added that if the infection declines in the state, action will be taken as per the recommendations of the committee.
The state government confirmed the extension of Lockdown, after announcement came from the center that certain factories, commercial establishments and other services could be allowed to function from April 20th.
As of Monday, 1477 positive cases of COVID- 19 have been registered.
