According to local media reports, an orphanage named ‘St Joseph Hospices’ is accused of kidnapping elders who are abandoned and taking them to the orphanage. It is also alleged that the elderly people are locked in rooms like lab rats. The shocking development came to light when people stopped a vehicle as an elderly woman inside it shouted for help. The police are investigating the matter. The orphanage is situated in Dindigul, Irumbuliyur, Paleswaram and Vellore. It is alleged that the home takes in abandoned elderly people who are on the verge of death. Run by an NGO, which receives funds from foreign countries, the home is also accused of not intimating the concerned authorities about the deaths. Further, the dead people are allegedly buried and after some time, their bones are recovered for illegally producing drugs out of them.
