TAMIL NADU: FOUR DIE AFTER CONSUMING LIQUOR

According to reports, at least four people have died so far after consuming poison-laced food in Sivakasi, Virudhunagar district, on Sunday. A group of friends, all hard labourers, went to a TASMAC outlet in the town after informing their families that they were going to Courtallam in Tirunelveli.
After buying liquor, they went to a remote place and started drinking. Soon after drinking, they started to feel dizzy and fainted. Ganesan (21), Syed Ibrahimsha (22) and Gautam (15) were taken to Sivakasi government hospital where they were declared dead.
Others - Ayyappan (22), Janardhanan (13), Saravanakumar (23) and Anthony (22) - were taken to the hospital. While Anthony was admitted to ICU, other three victims were taken to Madurai government hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Ayyappan’s brother Murugan (27) was found dead at his home, taking the death toll to four. Police said that they could have been poisoned. Police have formed teams to investigate the matter and nab the culprits.
