According to reports, a 56-year-old farmer from Tiruvannamalai died of heart attack on Saturday following an alleged altercation with loan recovery agents from State Bank of India, from whom he had borrowed Rs 4.95 lakh. The agents sent by the bank reportedly came to seize Gnanasekaran’s tractor for defaulting on the loan. His son-in-law reportedly said that a scuffle broke out when the agents harassed the farmer, and they hit Gnanasekaran in the chest. He fainted and was taken to Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai where he died, he reportedly added.
