A 22-year-old engineer from Tamil Nadu has allegedly committed suicide near Panrutti in the Cuddalore district, with the Blue Whale Challenge suspected to be behind his death, police said
Seshadri committed suicide by hanging at his house on Tuesday, while his parents were away, police added. Police claim that they have got hold of various books on ghosts, and a mobile phone using which he played the game.
The man, an employee at a private factory in Mettukuppam in Puducherry, is suspected to have ended his life under the influence of the game. Investigation in the case is underway, police said.
The infamous Blue Whale Challenge demands players to complete various tasks over a period of 50 days, with the final challenge asking the player to end their life. The game supposedly led to a series of death in India and across the world.
However, In January this year, the Centre informed the Lok Sabha that there was no evidence of the Blue Whale Challenge being linked to cases of suicide across the country.
