Tamil Nadu government receives award from Modi for farming

The agricultural department of Tamil Nadu on Saturday received Krishi Karman Award (for 2015-16) from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for record creation in the production of paddy, pulses and millets. Agricultural Minister R Doraikkannu, Agriculture Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi and Director of Agriculture V Dakshinamoorthy received a trophy and Rs 5 crore from the PM. Two farmers from Tamil Nadu, R Rasathi of Ariyalur district and S Samynathan of Tirunelveli district received cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh each for their progressive farming.
