Following Governor Banwarilal Purohit's pat on senior journalist Lakshmi Subramanian, TN BJP leader S. VE. Shekher Venkataraman shared a post on Facebook belittling the journalist. Despite, the Governor's apology to Lakshmi the next day, S. VE. Shekher wrote that the Governor should have washed his hands with phenyl for touching her cheeks.
The Facebook post was deleted, but its impact remains. In his post, S. VE. Shekher suggests that it was the journalist's aim to defame the Governor and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The post also said, "Recent complaints show they (journalists) can't become reporters or anchors without sleeping with big shots. Uneducated stupid, ugly beings... largely in Tamil Nadu media. This woman is no exception."
Reacting strongly to S. VE. Shekher's post, Chennai journalists will protest outside the BJP headquarters against him and H. Raja.
