Sterlite protests: Right leg amputated for 22-year-old

According to a report in TNIE, a 22-year-old youth, who was not even participating in the protest against Sterlite in Thoothukudi on May 22, got his right leg amputated at the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital.

 

Following the surgery, the youth was reportedly admitted to intensive care unit. One Prinston, a resident of Millerpuram, sustained a gunshot when he was climbing a wall to escape the firing.

 

The victim’s father reportedly said that his son was on his way for the second shift when a mob torched two government vehicles. He was caught between the violent agitators and the policemen.

 

Thoothukudi collector Sandeep Nanduri reportedly promised to offer a government job to the victim.
