Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduThe Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examination (TNDGE) released results for the class 10 or Secondary School leaving certificate examination (SSLC) on Monday. More than 9.7 lakh students have appeared for the examination. The result will be available in the websites- dge.tn.nic.in or tnresults.nic.in. Once you open the website, enter registration number, roll number. The results will appear on the screen. Download it, and take a print out for further reference.
Although few of the exams were scheduled to be conducted in March, it got postponed due to COVID-19. The Madras High Court announced in an order that it cannot permit the state government to put the lives of students at stake.
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami subsequently announced that all class 10 students of the 2019-20 batch will be promoted.
The state board had devised a new strategy to promote students. Around 90 per cent was evaluated from the students’ performance in quarterly and half- yearly exams whereas the remaining 20 percent was based on their attendance.
In order to pass, Candidates are required to secure 35 marks each in all the six subjects out of 100. For those subjects that have 70 marks in theory, candidates need to secure 15 marks in theory and a total of 35 marks while there is no minimum marks requirement in the practical or internal section.
"Out of the 9.7 lakh candidates who had passed the SSLC, class 10 exam this year, 4.71 lakh (4,71,759) are male candidates, while 4.68 lakh (4,68,070) are female candidates. There are 6,235 differently abled candidates who had passed the exam," The New Indian Express reported.
The pass percentage in SSLC exam touched 100 per cent this year since the government had declared earlier that all students will be passed. The SSLC exam was cancelled following the Madras High Court order
Last year, the pass percentage stood at 95.2 per cent in Tamil Nadu SSLC exam. The passing percentage of girls was recorded at 97 per cent, which was four percent high as compared to the boys. Among the districts, Sivagangai was the best performing district with pass percentage of 98.5 per cent.
