In what will be a disappointment to the residents of Chennai, the State Government has rejected the AII’s proposal of Sriperumbudur as the location for Greenfield airport. Out of 3000 acres that are needed for the airport to be built, the State Government owns only 800 acres. To buy the remaining 2,200 acres, the government would have to pay Rs.6,600 crores, which was the reason behind the rejection, reported New Indian Express.
