Tamil Nadu has reportedly recorded the highest rainfall during Southwest monsoon since 1996. Chennai has reportedly recorded 15% excess rain compared to last 11 years and 32 other districts have reportedly received 30% excess rainfall. With more rainfall, the 4 reservoirs in Chennai - Poondi, Chembarambakkam, Redhills, and Sholavaram have received constant increase in the water inflow. The weather station in Nungambakkam has reportedly recorded 509 mm rain in June which is 66 mm above normal. On the other hand, the weather station in Meenambakkam reportedly recorded 638 mm rainfall which is 150 mm above normal.
