According to reports, the labor department of Tamil Nadu is speeding the pending process of setting the minimum salary for daily wage workers. This comes two months after the center’s announcement for a policy to ensure minimum wages for daily wage workers. Allegedly, a committee has been set up which has submitted a report, fixing Rs 40 as the minimum wage for one hour of domestic work. Assuming a domestic worker works for four hours per day in one household for one month, he/she will be earning Rs 4,800 if the report is approved.
