SON KILLS 77-YEAR-OLD MOTHER FOR DENYING HIM SHARE IN PROPERTY

In a shocking incident being reported from Chennai's Kayarambedu near Guduvanchery, a 77-year-old woman was killed by her own son on an MTC bus. The crime was allegedly committed because she denied her son a share in her property.
The victim, identified as Muthamma had inherited 2-acres of land and gave it away to her daughter Vijayalakshmi. Angered over this, Muthamma's son Devaraj filed a case in the Chengalpattu district civil court. The court saw the victim bear witness to the fact that Devaraj wouldn't take care of either her or her husband and thus the land was given away to the daughter. The court was adjourned till Wednesday.
While travelling back to Tambaram, where Vijayalakshmi lived, Devaraj who was waiting at the bus station with a machete, in a fit of rage, slashed his mother and sister's throat.
When he tried to flee the crime scene, public caught hold of him and handed him over to the police. Muthamma was pronounced dead on arrival by the hospital and Vijayalakshmi, who was referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai, continues to be in a critical condition.
