In order to restore the Sembakkam lake to its original, pristine condition, the State government has undertaken a number of restorative measures, most notably bio-mining. The bio-mining taking place at Sembakkam Lake will be completed in a few months, say officials. According to reports, an estimated 35,000 tonnes of waste have accumulated at the spot over several years and the bio-mining plant would be able to process 100 to 200 tonnes of waste a day.
