"RELEASE WATER OR FACE CONSEQUENCES" - SC ORDERS KARNATAKA

According to reports, the Supreme Court on Thursday ordered Karnataka to release four thousand million cubic feet of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu this month. SC reportedly said that if Karnataka fails to comply with the order, they will have to face 'serious consequences'. 

The SC reportedly agreed with TN's grievances of not having the Cauvery Management Board yet.  It admonished the Centre and said, "You have to frame the scheme and there is no escaping this task."

When the Centre replied to the SC that the PM is in Karnataka for the upcoming elections, the Chief Justice said, ""We are not bothered about the polls. The scheme should have been framed by now.  States have no role in this."
