SC open to modify order on playing national anthem in movie halls

The Supreme Court on Monday reportedly observed that people do not need to stand up in the cinema halls when the national anthem is played. Justice D Y Chandrachud reportedly said, “ This is obviously because a cinema hall is a place for entertainment... people go to cinema halls for undiluted entertainment. Society needs entertainment”. The apex court also reportedly asked the Centre to consider amending the national flag code for regulating playing of the national anthem in the theatres.
