Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduDays after Sathankulam incident shocked the world, the Crime Branch CID of Tamil Nadu police arrested Sub-Inspector Raghu Ganesh. He got arrested after a case of 302 (Murder) was filed.
Currently, 12 special teams have been formed to arrest other accused in the case relating to the deaths of Jayaraj & his son Benicks, who died in police custody, Polimer news reports.
Earlier in the week, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court observed that there were more injuries in the bodies of Jayaraj and Benicks as opposed to reports filed by police. They noted that a case can be filed against the police officers in question.
They also added that they do not want to waste even a minute in this case and delay the course of justice.
A father and son from Tuticorin district allegedly died due to abuse in police custody. The 59-year-old P Jayaraj and 31-year- old son J Benicks were picked up by the Santhankulam Police for questioning citing that they kept their mobile accessories shop open during the lockdown on June 19.
Benicks died at the Kovilpatti General Hospital on June 22 while his father died on June 23.
