SALEM TEMPLE ELEPHANT ATTAINS NATURAL DEATH

Rajeswari, the 42-year-old temple elephant died naturally on Saturday despite the Madras High Court’s approval to euthanize it as it was long suffering from a serious painful disease in her left foreleg. The female elephant of Sri Sugavaneswarar temple in Salem remained lying on the floor causing it to develop sores. The HC earlier permitted euthanasia to the animal if it would be cruel to keep the animal alive.
