THIRD JUDGE ANNOUNCED IN 18 MLAS DISQUALIFICATION CASE

According to reports, Justice S Vimala was announced as the third judge to give a verdict to the 18-MLA disqualification case. The case's verdict hit a roadblock on June 14 after the two judges - Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar issued contradicting verdicts.
The Speaker P Dhanapal on September 18 had disqualified 18 MLAs under the TTV-faction. The move was challenged by the MLAs, the verdict of which took place on June 14. While Banerjee upheld the Speaker's decisions, Sundar opposed it.
The split-verdict came as a relief for the ruling AIADMK party. If the verdict had been against the Speaker's decisions, AIADMK's majority in the Assembly would have gotten hit.
