Ahead of the by-election in RK Nagar, security has reportedly been beefed up in the constituency with as much as 1,000 police officers being deployed 24x7. About 135 people who have previous records of criminal activities have reportedly been arrested. Licensed gun owners were reportedly ordered to hand over their guns to the local police stations. At least 100 CCTV cameras are installed and police can reportedly access those cameras through their cellphones. The by-election was scheduled to be kept on April 12 but after the IT raids, it has been changed to December 21.
