READY TO SEND FORCES IF TN ASKS: CENTRE OVER STERLITE PROTEST

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba has reportedly said that the Central government is ready to send its forces to Tamil Nadu if the state government asks for it. Stating that the forces are ready, Gauba reportedly said that the Centre is ready to help the state in bringing the situation in Thoothukudi under control.
People in Thoothukudi district has been protesting against the Sterlite copper plant despite the police firing on Tuesday which killed at least 11 people. Reports suggest that the death toll has risen to 12 after one more was killed in police firing on Wednesday.
The Union Home Ministry earlier ordered the state to submit a detailed report on police firing and the deaths. The National Human Rights Commission issued notices to Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan and DGP TK Rajendran.
