Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduTamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami shared the main reasons for the spread of COVID-19 in Chennai. His two main reasons came after a review meeting which took place at the corporation headquarters on Tuesday.
Explaining about the first one, Palaniswami said use of public toilets was one of the main reasons for the spread in Chennai. "Many people are using public toilets and it resulted in the spread of the disease. Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials are regularly spraying disinfectants there," Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said.
While another important reason behind the spread of the virus is the large population and narrow street. "We are now testing around 12,000 samples everyday. This is why the number of positive cases is increasing. But, people should not worry about it. A 4,000 bed hospital is ready for use in Chennai," he further added.
The chief minister further spoke about adhering to lockdown protocols like wearing mask and maintaining social distance. He also assured that Amma canteens are providing food to the hungry everyday while state minister are taking stock of every situation.
