POLICE FINDS HEAD OF MURDERED BOY, SECURITY FORCES DEPLOYED AS PROTESTS ERUPT!
Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduA Tamil Nadu man was allegedly murdered on Friday night at a village in the state. The incident happened in the Keela Keeranur Village of Tuticorin district. Reportedly, the 22-year-old man was stabbed and brutally beheaded by the accused.
The incident came to the notice of police when the man’s body was spotted by his family. The police revealed that it is a case of caste rivalry. The deceased has been identified as P Sathyamurthy.
Last year, the residents of the neighbourhood had objections about the burial of a person from another community. Most of the residents in the area are Dalits. Reportedly, Sathyamurthy, who is not a Dalit, opposed the entire village and supported the burial.
The police told the media that there were minor arguments in the past but none of the villagers had brought them to notice. When Sathyamurthy did not return home till 9pm after he stepped out on Friday evening, his family grew suspicious.
He was found beheaded in the village. However, his head was not found by the villagers.
The villagers protested and tried to stop the police from sending his body for post- mortem without the head. The Superintendent of Police (SP) told the villagers that his head will be recovered and accused will be arrested.
The villagers then staged a protest and disrupted the police from sending his body for the post-mortem without the head. Following this, the Superintendent of Police (SP) told the villagers that the head will be recovered and the accused will be arrested. “The head was recovered by the police from a spot which was 400 kilometres away from the body. After pacifying the protestors, the police sent the deceased's body to Thoothukudi MCH for the post-mortem,” The Times of India reported.
The residents of Thalaivanvadali resorted to violence as a response to the incident. Almost 500 cops have been deployed in the area since then.
“The SP said that 10 persons have been identified for having an alleged role in the incident. The accused were allegedly under the influence of drugs when the incident took place,” Times Now cited in its report.
