Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Amma Two Wheeler Scheme which offers a subsidy for women to purchase two-wheelers of cubic capacity less than 125. He expressed his happiness in launching the ambitious scheme which was considered to be one of the pet projects of the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. He was quoted as saying,“I am sure she would be very happy to see the happiness on your faces," adding that the scheme would empower women in the state.
