After stoking a controversy over a Facebook post that said Periyar statues in Tamil Nadu will be brought down, BJP national secretary H Raja has now made another controversial statement on Periyar. Speaking to reporters in Dindigul on Thursday, the BJP leader said he has a proof for Periyar’s statement that the “Saniyan” (a derogatory word in Tamil used to abuse) called Tamil should not exist. H Raja also alleged that ‘Dravidam’ was imposed on Tamil people to obliterate the word ‘Tamil’.
