PAY TRAFFIC FINES IN CHENNAI USING CARDS AND PAYTM STARTING TODAY

In order to curb the practice of traffic cops taking bribe, from today onwards, traffic fines in Chennai can be paid using debit and credit cards, PayTM, etc, and an e-challan can be obtained as token of payment paid. 
 

As of now, about 300 machines have been procured to benefit those preferring to pay fines via credit card. Since the system to use debit cards will take some more time, commuters might have to pay the fine at the courts, as of now.
 

However, the card system is only applicable for spot fines and not cases involving serious offences like drunken driving, which need mediation by courts.
