According to reports, paramilitary forces have been deployed in large numbers in the delta districts, including Thanjavur and Tiruvarur, of Tamil Nadu. The development comes amidst protests in the districts against the Centre over the formation of Cauvery Management Board, hydrocarbon extraction and ONGC digging oil wells. It has raised eyebrows as to why the forces have been deployed in such large numbers.
