According to a University Grants Commission (UGC) guideline, students who clear pending papers within two years after the end of the course will only be allowed to qualify for a degree. The Bharathidasan University has reportedly adopted this norm; undergraduate and postgraduate students will no longer get unlimited chances to clear exam arrears and pass out after course period. A TOI report says Anna University had also earlier adopted the guideline as a resolution.
