The late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on September 21, 2016, made the last public appearance. On September 22, 2016, she was admitted to Apollo Hospital, where she stayed till she breathed her last. She flagged off the first ever Metro train from Chennai Airport to Little Mount. Dressed in her favourite green saree, the 68-year-old waved off the green flag on the LED screen. The photographs taken on that day were the last ones in which she appeared in her good old charm.
