According to a report by The News Minute, P Shekhar, the Deputy Tahsildar (Elections), who allegedly gave the order to open fire at the protesters in Thoothukudi was not posted anywhere near the spot where the firing happened. TNM claimed to have accessed a letter from the Divisional Magistrate and said that Shekhar was posted at Fatima Nagar, Lions Town, Pudhu Street, Sorispuram, Thoothukudi Maadha Koil, Threspuram junction.
Referring to Shekhar’s statements in an FIR on the firing, TNM observes that the Deputy Tahsildar was present at the shooting spot. The report raises a lot of new questions to be answered regarding the firing incident.
