According to a report in Times of India, despite an increase in patronage, Metropolitan Transport Corporation's net losses almost doubled in 2016 from the previous year, and jumped more than fourfold from Rs 45 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 190 crore in 2015-16. There was also an increase in outstanding loans from Rs 77 crore to Rs 190 crore over a three-year period from 2014 through 2016.
