Cadres belonging to MDMK and Naam Tamilar Katchi were involved in a clash at the Trichy airport on Saturday morning. Video footages of the incident showed members of the two sides attacking each other with the logs holding flags on top.
Reports say that Naam Tamilar Katchi’s chief coordinator Seeman and MDMK general secretary Vaiko came to Trichy on the same flight from Chennai. Vaiko came to Trichy to visit Ariyalur where he will attend a public meeting. Seeman was supposed to visit the Kathiramangalam village in Thanjavur district to join the villagers in protest.
An argument, which broke out over parking a vehicle, turned into a brawl between the two sides, say reports. It is said that there was not enough number of police personnel in the airport to bring the situation under control immediately. However, the cadres themselves disbursed and left after the long tussle, say reports.
