A man by the name Arunanand TA on Twitter wrongly tagged US’ Salem police department in his tweet to complain about the exorbitant fare charged by autorickshaw drivers in Salem Yercaud. However, the US Salem police replied to his tweet saying. “We are the Salem Police in Salem, Oregon, USA.” Notably, the Tamil Nadu’s Salem police, who later assured to look into the matter, does not even have a Twitter handle. Meanwhile, there is also a city named Madras in Oregon, which the man again took to US Salem police to confirm.
. @SalemPoliceDept are you aware that the auto rickshaws overcharge tourists in #Yercaud ?Rs. 50/- for 1.5km. Is there a system that looks into such issues here? @CMOTamilNadu @dinakaranonline @dinathanthi @VisitYercaud @twttdc
