As the government has been sending out various sanitary workers to disinfect public places in order to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, the man who entered the ATM was not suspected. The 65-year-old security guard at the ATM said that the man arrived with a bag and a tube .
“He went inside while the security guard stepped out and stood watching at a distance. Meanwhile, a customer who entered the kiosk noticed the suspect entering password on the currency chest and mistook him to be an employee of bank. The customer then came out and waited,” a police officer said.
The man had rushed out 10 minutes later, with a bag and escaped in an auto. Despite trying to stop him, he escaped. The Bank’s manager was informed and the police took up the case after an FIR was filed. The police suspect that the person must be an insider as he knew the correct password and also possessed the correct key.
