The Madras High Court has reportedly refused to stay the eviction of inhabitants of 36 slums in the city as a blanket order cannot be granted against eviction of slum dwellers, without hearing the version of the state government.The petitioner had stated that 22 slums in MK Stalin Nagar and Thideer Nagar had already been evicted fully, and in five had been evicted partially. Residents of 36 other slums are under threat of eviction.
