After Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu going under a complete lockdown in Tamil Nadu, Madurai city has now been directed to follow the same.

Starting from tomorrow, Madurai will be under a complete lockdown until June 30. Further those who need to purchase essentials to embrace the coming weeks, are only allowed to purchase from the shops which are located within 1 Km radius.

Essential services such as hospitals and pharmacies are allowed to function. Further details are awaited.

Autos and Taxis and other private vehicles are not allowed to stroll around the city. Government offices are instructed to work with 33% employees.

This decision was announced by the state government after the city saw a constant increase in the number of coronavirus cases.
