A Madras High Court bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Abdul Quddhose, while dismissing a plea submitted by social activist 'Traffic' KR.Ramaswamy on grounds of frivolity warned that a fine would be imposed on frivolous PILs that would needlessly consume the Court’s time. The bench was reportedly quoted as saying, "It is warned that in future, exemplary costs shall be imposed for frivolous so-called public interest litigations, which do not concern the public at large."
