MADRAS HC DISMISSES MLAS DISQUALIFICATION AND JAYA PORTRAIT CASE

The Madras High Court on Friday dismissed the MLAs disqualification case filed by DMK's R Sakkarapani against O Panneerselvam, Mafoi Pandiarajan, Aarukutty, Shanmuganathan, Manickam, Manoharan, Manoranjitham, Saravanan, Semmalai, Chinnaraj and R Nataraj, for going against the orders of the party whip. The HC said that it can't question the speaker's action or inaction on the matter.
Similarly, it also dismissed a case filed by DMK's J Anbazhagan regarding the portrait of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa being kept in the assembly despite being convicted in the disproportionate assets case, saying that the court won't interfere in the issue.
