According to reports, the supporters of AIADMK leader Madhusudhanan and Jayalalithaa’s niece J Deepa were involved in an altercation near the office of the Returning Officer in Tondiarpet. The argument reportedly broke out when Deepa’s criticised Madhusudhanan at a protest against the RO’s decision to reject Deepa’s nomination. Reports suggest that two of Deepa’s supporters were injured in the clash.
