A massive fire broke out at Madhavaram oil warehouse in Chennai on Saturday. According to Sylendra Babu (Additional director of Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services), the fire had been confirmed due to the release of poisonous gas from the pharmaceutical industry located in the area.
Reportedly 1000 officials were employed along with 26 fire tending machines and special foram vehicles to put down the fire. As per India Today report the medical godown containing goods of 100 crores worth was set ablaze.
Though the release of poisonous gas is confirmed, the smoke released will not cause any harm to the nearby residents according to the reports. While several videos of the incident have been doing rounds on the internet, the root cause of the fire is yet to be identified.
