According to reports, six children of a family, all aged between 4 and 20, drowned and died when the country boat they were travelling capsized on a lake in Malappuram district. The children, who had come for holiday, had taken out a country boat belonging to the family on Tuesday to see the water flow of a broken bund. Prasanna (13), Vaishna (20), Jenisha (11), Pooja (13), Adhinadh (14) and Adhidev (8) lost their lives in the incident. The locals, as soon as the boat capsized, jumped into the lake and rescued two children. Velayudhan, the boatman, and two others were rushed to hospitals and are reportedly in a critical condition.
