The Madurai district administration has reportedly decided to reduce the duration of Jallikattu from the previous 8 hours to 7 hours. Earlier, it was 8 am - 4 pm against the present 8 am - 3 pm. District Collector Veera Raghava Rao has reportedly said that people have submitted petitions to conduct Jallikattu in Avaniyapuram on January 14. Petitions have also been submitted to conduct the sport on January 15 and 16 in Palamedu and Alanganallur respectively, the Collector reportedly informed.
