HOW CHENNAI LISTED ON TOP IN WATCHING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY? - BRIEF REPORT

There has been widespread concern about watching pornography in Tamil Nadu and India. Recently BJP Minister Smiriti Irani revealed that more than 5000 porn websites were blocked by the central government. Meanwhile, Karthikeyan, Cyber Crime Expert revealed that watching Adult Pornography is permitted and not a crime whereas Child Pornography is a crime. The statements of Karthikeyan as reported by him in a News 7 interview are compiled below.

Mumbai Pilot

In March 2019 a Mumbai-based pilot was caught watching child pornography during his layover time in the US. Later, he was held by the US authorities and deported to India. The issue became serious thereafter making National Crime Records Beaurau of India (NCRB) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) sign an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) in May 2019. As per the MOU, the US shared the report of child pornography being watched in India.

5000 Pages Report

The report consists of 5000 pages and revealed the major population watching Child Pornography is from Tamil Nadu, Chennai. That doesn't necessarily mean that people from Tamil Nadu are only the primary source.

Floating Population

Chennai is a place where we see a lot of floating population (people from other states) on a daily basis. Therefore the IP addresses match with the most number of floating population in Chennai. Mostly pornography is watched only on mobile devices. Therefore, the IP addresses would be dynamic in all the mobile devices which keeps changing as a particular person moves from one place to another.
