Advocate Rajasekhar, who quit actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam party, has explained the reason behind his decision in an exclusive interview with Behindwoods. Clarifying that he had no differences of opinion with the party founder, Rajasekhar said that he was not able to cope up with the speed of his leader in continuing party works as he had to juggle between his profession and politics.
Though he admitted that he had some ‘unhappy’ incidents, he didn’t attribute his decision to those incidents. The Madras High Court lawyer admitted, “I had some expectations about party posts just like many others who enter politics; I'm not an exception”, adding that Kamal Haasan also fulfilled his expectation by appointing him as a member of the party high-level committee.
Further, when questioned if Kamal Haasan’s decision of not appointing him as the party’s spokesperson triggered him to quit the party, the advocate replied in negative. However, Rajasekhar said that he thought his strength was participating in TV debates and working as a spokesperson while adding that Kamal Haasan could’ve thought otherwise. Stating that he didn’t regret the decision, Rajasekhar said he was lucky to ‘travel’ with Kamal Haasan.
