According to reports, students at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, protested near the mechanical sciences block in the campus against PM Modi’s visit to Chennai. Nearly a dozen students raised slogans and showed placards with captions against PM Modi. Reports say that the incident happened when the PM was going to attend an event at Cancer Institute, Adyar. Notably, the hashtag #GoBackModi is trending worldwide, while people in Tamil Nadu protested against his visit by wearing black shirts, showing black flags and floating black balloons. People in the state were opposed to his Chennai visit as the BJP-led Centre has not yet formed the Cauvery Management Board as per the Supreme Court’s order.
