Huge compensation for woman who missed gold chain in Chennai Mail

A gold chain of a 61-year-old woman travelling in second class-cum reservation apartment from Mumbai to Chennai in Chennai Mail reportedly went missing in 2013. Reports say, a case was filed three years ago to find the missing chain and since it couldn’t be retrieved for over a year, a complaint was filed in the consumer forum against the negligence of railway officials to ensure safety. The consumer forum directed the Southern Railways to pay Rs 1 lakh in compensation for negligence in services as a third person couldn’t have entered the compartment if the doors of the reserved compartment were locked as per procedure.
