According to reports, the price per kilometer of mofussil buses will go up to 60 paise from the current 40 paise. While express and deluxe bus services will see an increase of 73 paise against the current 56 praise, the super deluxe bus fares will be increased to 75 paise against the current 60 paise per kilometer. The ultra-deluxe bus fares will see an increase of 95 paise from 75 paise per km. Currently, a passenger pays around Rs 325 to travel to Madurai by an SETC bus. After the implementation of the revised changes, it will be increased to as much as Rs 440 per passenger. For MTC buses, currently the minimum charge is Rs 3 which will be made Rs 5 and the maximum ticket fare may go up to Rs 25.
