FORMER CM JAYALALITHAA'S MEMORIAL: HIGH COURT DELIVERS VERDICT ON POES GARDEN RESIDENCE, ADVISES GOVT!
Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduThe Tamil Nadu government was planning to take over the Poes Garden residence of Former CM Jayalalithaa, in order to convert it into a memorial. However, the Madras High Court on Wednesday declared that only a part of the 10 ground property can be converted into a memorial, if need arises, as her legal heirs are present.
J Deepa and J Deepak, Jayalalithaa’s niece and nephew are considered as second class legal heirs. Hence all the assets of the departed leader were announced as theirs by Justice N Kirubakaran and Justice Abdul Quddhose. They suggested converting a portion into a memorial.
This verdict was read after both the class 2 legal heirs pleaded to administer their aunt’s properties in their capacity. Previously in 2019, both of them had submitted no objection in their aunt’s properties being allotted for public welfare. However, they added, “But as the only legal heirs of Jayalalithaa we are entitled to all her properties. We have plans to establish a trust in her name and do charity for the people through it.”
