KARUNANIDHI'S SANDALWOOD CASKET PREPARED

DMK veteran Dr M Karunanidhi passed away at the Kauvery Hospital on August 7 at 6.10 pm following a decline in his health. The five-time former CM was admitted to the hospital on July 26 following a fever due to urinary tract infection.
His body was kept at his residence in Gopalapuram for a few hours and then taken to his residence at CIT Nagar as well. After 3 am, Kalaignar's body was taken to Rajaji Memorial Hall for public view.
It was announced recently that Kalaignar's body will be taken from Rajaji Hall at 4 pm in the form of a procession to Marina Beach. Preparations for his burial have already commenced at Marina.
The DMK patriarch will be put to rest in a sandalwood casket that was specially prepared. The casket carries the quote, "Here rests the man who worked without any rest."
