During the hearing of a plea opposing the Tamil Nadu government's proposal to convert Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence into a memorial, the Madras High Court on Tuesday reportedly directed the State’s Advocate General to verify whether the residence was mentioned in the disproportionate assets case against her. The court reportedly asked the A-G to inform the court about the factual position, and adjourned the hearing to September 8. The petitioner has contended that converting her residence into a memorial will set a bad precedent since she was convicted in the disproportionate assets case.
